The Digital Agenda: Welcome to Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2022

This summer,  we highlighted the  rise of cybercrime, significance of proactive action  and cyber readiness initiatives that are necessary.  October has been designated as the Cybersecurity awareness month by the US President since 2004. As we are embarking upon cybersecurity week (Oct 17-22) in the middle of Cyber Awareness month, we thought of sharing more with our clients and community

Cybersecurity Awareness October2022

Celebrating Cybersecurity month is a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online. We partner with government bodies such as CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) , NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and  other federal agencies to help raise awareness about cybersecurity and engage with public and private sector partners through events and initiatives to raise awareness about cybersecurity, provide them with tools and resources needed to stay safe online, and increase the resiliency of the nation in the event of a cyber incident.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month activities  help citizens protect themselves online as our technology, and threats to that technology, become more sophisticated and interwoven in our daily lives. This year’s campaign theme — “See Yourself in Cyber” — demonstrates that while cybersecurity may seem like a complex subject, ultimately, it’s really all about people.

This October will focus on the “people” part of cybersecurity, providing information and resources to help educate our partners and the public, and ensure all individuals and organizations make smart decisions whether on the job, at home or at school – now and in the future.

For individuals and families, we encourage you to “See Yourself”  taking action to stay safe online. That means enabling basic cyber hygiene practices: think before you click, update your software, have good strong passwords or a password keeper, and enable multi-factor authentication (meaning you need "More Than A Password!") on all your sensitive accounts. For those considering joining the cyber community, we encourage you to See Yourself joining the cyber workforce.

As you know, Veridic Solutions is in the business of solving our client’s most complex problems by developing technology and enabling them to implement cutting edge solutions. As digital transformations continue to pick pace, we observe a number of emerging trends, For example in Identity and Access management (IAM), Zero Trust paradigm is proving to be effective against modern and sophisticated threats, and the need for secure Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) is top of mind for many organizations. Customer-facing applications face a different threat landscape and must deliver an experience that’s user friendly — as well as secure and private. While workforce identity management can accommodate comparatively higher friction and can often count on a user base that has undergone security awareness training, CIAM lacks these factors and must rely on more subtle techniques to achieve and maintain a strong security posture.

Additionally, we have  been talking with leaders in corporate as well as public sector from across the country about how we can build a technology workforce that is cybersecurity literate. We realize that  more effort needs to get into creating a workforce that is diverse and dedicated to solving the problems that will help keep the American people safe

For our partners in industry, we encourage you to “See Yourself” as part of the solution. That means putting operational collaboration into practice, working together to share information in real-time, and reducing risk and building resilience from the start to protect America's critical infrastructure and the systems that Americans rely on every day.
